Porn Pushes Everything Else Out Of Your Brain – Science!

Despite warnings from various experts in the porn industry, Measure B passed in a landslide victory. Does this mean fewer people watch porn than we thought? Do you not care if the porn industry and its billion dollars of economic activity leaves town? According to a study performed by German researchers, you might have forgotten to vote because you watch too much online pornography. We forgive you.

Having solved all other problems in the world, scientists set out to see how processing porn influences one’s working memory. This is essentially your short term memory, or the part of your brain used for critical thinking, decision making, reasoning, and understanding. It’s like your brain’s RAM, and as it would turn out, filling it with porn is a bad idea if you have important work to do.

German scientists asked 28 heterosexual men averaging 26 years of age to look at a series of images on a computer. Some of the images were porn and others depicted boring things like random activities, and people carrying weapons. Participants were asked to indicate “yes” or “no” on a touch screen if the picture being displayed was the same was the one displayed four images earlier.

The men’s scores when shown pornographic images were significantly lower than when they were shown non-porn pictures. Participants also acknowledged feeling higher levels of sexual arousal and a desire to masturbate during these empirical stages of forgetfulness. Although any of us who have tried to masturbate and study at the same time could tell you the exact same thing, it’s interesting to see legitimate science confirm that boners make brain no work as good.
